Do you think it is Stanley's fault that Mr. Sir gets scratched? Why or why not?
Please answer both questions.
1. Why does Stanley tell Mr. Sir that he stole the sunflower seeds? 2. What would you have done if you were Stanley? In Chapter 12, Stanley discovered a fossil as he was digging his hole. Stanley was then approached by X-Ray and was asked to give to X-ray anything else interesting in the future. Do you think that Stanley should keep what he finds or should he give any interesting items to X-Ray? Why do you think that?
In Chapter 9, Stanley will write his first letter to his mom after arriving at Camp Green Lake. If you were Stanley, what would you write to your family? Start your writing off in this format:
Dear Mom, Some helpful information: Think about what Camp Green Lake is like. How does it look?Who have you met? What do you miss about home and your life before coming to Camp Green Lake? Why? "Pretend you were Elyna Yelnats, Stanley's no-good-pig-stealing-great-great- grandfather, and had to convinced Myra's dad for you to marry his daughter, how would you persuade him? What would you do? What would you say?"
Please remember to keep it school appropriate and respond to a classmate. Stanley's family jokes that they have no luck because of their no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather. Do you believe in curses? If so, what kind and why? If you don't believe in them, tell why you don't.
Make a prediction by answering one of these questions. Don't forget to give reasons about why you think that. You need to write one post and then reply to one of your classmates.
In Chapter 13, Ms. Hussey says, "It's not clear if the thief is good or bad." Calder also says, "Good people sometimes get caught in bad things." Do you think Ms. Hussey is involved in the crime? Do you think she is one of the people who received the letter (if the letters even exist)? Do you think a group of people could be behind the crime, as Ms. Hussey mentioned?
*Be sure to give reasons to explain your opinions. How would you describe Ms. Sharpe's behavior toward Calder and Petra during tea? What does that lead you to think about her?
